Kendall County, Illinois "JAMES PRICKETT, from
Champaign county, Ohio, was among the earliest to make a claim at Long Grove,
but when he returned with his family the claim was jumped, and he bought another
in Apakesha Grove. It is still owned by Elijah Prickett. The only evidence of
Mr. Kellogg's claim there was some rails he had cut in the timber. Besides
Elijah, Mr. Prickett had three other sons: Charles, now living at Nettle Creek ;
John, at Seneca; and Aaron, below Dwight. Also a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Bowen,
near Lisbon. His first log house had door and floor of basswood puncheons, and
still stands back in the grove, a relic of bygone days. He died after being in
the country nine years, and his wife survived him but one year."

History Grundy County 1882
Charles Prickett, farmer, P. O. Coal City, was born October 16, 1829, in
Logan County, Ohio; is a son of James and Rebecca Prickett. The parents came
to Kendall County, Ill., in 1833. They had seven children, viz., Elijah,
Joel, Charles, John, Aaron, Elizabeth, Jane. He has always been a farmer.
Was married, February 6, 1858, to Adaline A. Holderman, the result being
twelve children, viz., Jane E., George, Byron, Jacob, Rhua, Melissa, Joel,
Nellie, Burton C., Rose, Elizabeth, Anthony. He settled at his marriage near
Morris, this county, and in 1864 he bought his present farm of 160 acres,
and has lived on the same since. He has been Highway Commissioner, Tax
Collector, and Constable; votes the Republican ticket; takes an interest in
educating his children.

1886 Jun.: Rheu Ann Prickett homesteaded in CO. NE of Section 9, T 1N, R 47W of 6th PM for 160 acres granted 17 March 1892.
In 1910 they're in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Peter is a stone mason. Mary M. is 15, Clara A. 13. In 1920 "Rhenun" is still in Fort Morgan, widowed, and Clara is a salesperson at a drug store. Their headstone in the Fort Morgan cemetery has Peter's death as 1916.
In 1930 Fort Morgan "Rhuann", 73, is living with daughter Mary M. Spotts and her husband Harry F., and Clara A. STAMPER is a lodger in the Orley LaNier household. - married, no occupation.\
In 1940 James A. 40 and Clara A. 43 Stamper are in Fort Collins, where James is a pharmacist. They have Nancy Carolyn, 7, and Rheuann Bergeron, 81, is living with them.
One Ancestry tree said she died December 3, 1946, in Fort Collins.

Four pages apart in the census is Adelina, with grandson Clyde Prickett 10, daughter Rosa Smith - divorced- and son Roy Smith 2.
1938 Nov. 3: Article in The Wray Gazette:Joel A. Prickett, son of Charles and Adeline Prickett, was born June 7, 1864 in Grundy County, Illinois. He remained in the home of his parents until the age of 20, when he went to Nebraska, locating near Orleans. While there he was converted and became an active member of the Baptist Church. Four years later he moved to Vernon, Colorado, homesteading on what is now the Churchill place, living there ten years. The he moved onto the home place where he remained until his demise.
He was married to Clarisia Adora Shepard on February 26, 1890. To this union were born seven daughters and one son Nellie Sankey of Republic, Kansas; Iva Smith of Superior, Nebraska; Eva Crandell of Wray; Amy Lambert of Haigler, Nebraska; Hazel Schroeder of Woodburn, Oregon; Olive Higgenbotham of Eaton, Colorado; and Reno Prickett of Eaton, Colorado. The second daughter departed this life in 1908 at the age of 14 years.
His wife, Adora, departed this life January 6, 1930. On September 22, 1931, he chose for his companion, Mrs. Jennie E. Prickett of Alma, Nebraska who was a faithful helper throughout his suffering. He passed away on October 27, 1938 at the age of 74 years, 6 months and 20 days after an illness of nearly a year. He is also survived by four sisters and three brothers. Funeral services were on October 30 with interment in Glendale Cemetery. 1940 Apr. 18: Article in The Wray Gazette:

Burton C. Prickett, 72, died at the county hospital on Monday, April 15. He was a single man, but is survived here in this community by several relatives. Funeral services will be held this afternoon in the Vernon Methodist Church and interment will be made in Glendale Cemetery at Vernon. Burton Cook Prickett, son of Charles and Adeline Prickett was born at Braidwood, Grundy County, Illinois on September 8, 1867 and passed away at Wray, Colorado on April 15, 1940 at the age of 72 years, 7 months and 7 days. He came to Colorado in 1889. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Those remaining are Jacob of Yuma, Colorado; Mrs. Rhuea Bergeron of Fort Morgan, Colorado; Mrs. Elizabeth Callaway of Unidilla, Nebraska and Mrs. Rosie Clawson of Abarr, Colorado.-----------------------------------------------------
1943 Mar. 11: Article in The Wray Gazette:Jacob Prickett, 81, bachelor and recluse who resided for many years at a farm home a mile west and four miles south of Schramm, was burned to death sometime between midnight and 6 o'clock Monday morning by a fire that consumed the house and his personal effects. Neighbors reported to officers that there was no evidence of the fire shortly before midnight Sunday night, but Monday morning they discovered that the small residence had burned to the ground.
Mr. Prickett was known to many residents of the county who had been attracted by his unusual appearance. He was crippled and for years had refused to cut his hair or beard.
The deceased was born on January
9, 1862 at Morris, Illinois. He came to Colorado in 1887
and had resided here since. A brother, Bert Prickett, died
on April 18, 1940. Mrs. Rosa Clawson of Abarr, is a sister.

Mrs. Adaline Prickett, mother of Joe and Bert Prickett, is very sick at her home
northwest of Vernon. Her illness is largely caused from a reent severe
fall, and although her advanced age makes it serious, a seedy recovery is hoped
for.
Clyde Prickett left the Wednesday for Fort Morgan to bring back an aunt to the bedside of his grandmother.

Funeral services for Neva Jane PRICKETT were held at the Yuma Church of the Nazarene on Monday, May 4 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Lloyd Van MATRE officiating. Interment was in the Eckley Cemetery.
Neva Jane PRICKETT, daughter of James H. and Luella G. (HIGGINS) CAMPBELL was born on May 4, 1903 at Mount Ayr, Iowa, and departed this life at Wray on April 30, 1981.
In the year 1910, she came to Colorado with her mother and family from Iowa.
On December 20, 1920 she was united in marriage to Clyde PRICKETT at Wray. To this union three sons and three daughters were born.
She lived most of her life in the Eckley community where she received her education and attended church.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1962, and infant son and daughter, her father and mother, and four brothers.
She is survived by two sons, James Grant and Harold Wayne; two daughters, Neva Nadine and Alice Louise; two sisters, Nellie IRELAND of Loveland and Clara LUCORE of Eneterprise, Oregon; one brother, Julius King of Shelton Washington and several nieces and nephews and a host of neighbors and friends.

In 1930 Ben and Rosa are in Abarr precinct - 66 and 53, respectively, both born in Illinois.
In 1940 "A. Rosa" and "H.B." Clawson are near Abarr, two households below Edward and Martha Wurtsmith (Edna Clawson said that "Old Aunt Rosie" lived with the Wurtsmiths in the 1940's.)
Edna also said "Ben was the brother of my great-grandfather Squires Clawson."
Rosa died 1952 28 Oct Yuma, Yuma, Colorado, Burial Yuma, Yuma, Colorado, according to one Ancestry tree.
